The Salisbury & Wicomico County Dumpster Rental Guide

Renting a roll-off dumpster is one of those things most homeowners do once every few years, so it never quite becomes familiar. This guide is written specifically for Salisbury and the rest of Wicomico County — the neighborhoods, the lot sizes, the project seasons, and the delivery routes we actually run. By the end you should know which container to reserve, what it costs, where it can legally sit, and how quickly we can get it to you.

Which Dumpster Size Fits Your Salisbury Project

Size is the first decision and the one people second-guess most. We deliver three roll-off containers, and in Wicomico County each one has a fairly predictable set of projects behind it.

10-Yard: Garage Sort-Outs and Single Rooms

The 10-yard container measures roughly 12 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 3.5 feet tall, so it fits on a single-car driveway with room to open a car door beside it. Around Salisbury University, we see a steady run of 10-yard rentals every May through August as rental houses on Camden Avenue and the surrounding blocks turn over between leases. A landlord sorting a garage or a single furnished room between tenants rarely needs more than this.

It is also the right call for a bathroom remodel, a single bedroom of old carpet and furniture, or a shed you are emptying before a move. If you can picture the material fitting into about three pickup truck loads, the 10-yard is your container.

20-Yard: Kitchen Remodels in Camden and Newtown

The 20-yard container is our most requested size in Salisbury, and the Camden and Newtown historic districts are the reason. Those older homes have small original kitchens, and when owners open up a wall, replace cabinetry, and pull up two or three layers of flooring, a 10-yard fills faster than anyone expects. The 20-yard gives you cabinets, countertops, subfloor, plaster, and packaging in a single container with room left over.

It is also the size most contractors reserve for a multi-room remodel, a full basement finish, or a bathroom-plus-kitchen project running at the same time. Its 4-foot walls stay easy to load over without a ramp.

30-Yard: Roof Tear-Offs and Estate Transitions

The 30-yard container is built for volume. Shingle tear-offs on the larger two-story homes off Riverside Drive and out toward Nithsdale routinely produce more material than a 20-yard will hold, especially when there is a second layer underneath. Roofing crews prefer the 30-yard because it keeps them working instead of waiting on a swap.

The other common 30-yard rental in Wicomico County is an estate transition — a family emptying a long-held home ahead of a sale or a move to assisted living. Decades of stored belongings add up quickly, and one large container placed for two weeks is far less disruptive than several small ones cycling in and out.

    How Our Flat-Rate Pricing Works

We quote a single flat rate. Our flat-rate pricing covers delivery, the container itself, a 14-day rental period, pickup, and a set tonnage allowance. The 10-yard is $399 with 1 ton of disposal included. The 20-yard and 30-yard are both $597 with 3 tons included.

There are only a few ways the number changes, and we tell you all of them up front. Weight over your included tonnage is $99 per ton. Days beyond the 14-day window are $7 per day. Mattresses carry a $35 disposal fee each, and tires carry a surcharge — call us for the current figure. There is no fuel surcharge, no environmental fee, and no administrative line item added later.

One scheduling detail worth knowing: we do not collect automatically at the end of the 14 days. You call us when you are finished and we schedule the pickup. That way you are never rushed and you are never charged for time you did not use.

Do You Need a Permit in Salisbury or Wicomico County?

The general rule is simple. If the container sits entirely on your own private property — a driveway, a parking pad, or a private lot — you do not need a permit. That covers the large majority of the rentals we deliver in Wicomico County.

If the container has to sit in the public right-of-way, meaning a city street, an alley, or a public parking lane, that is a different situation and you should check with the City of Salisbury before your delivery date. Right-of-way placement typically requires authorization, and requirements can differ depending on the street and whether the property sits inside city limits or in unincorporated Wicomico County. A short call to the city ahead of time avoids a delivery that has to be turned around. If your property is outside city limits, contact Wicomico County directly.

We are happy to talk through placement before you book. In most cases we can find a driveway position that keeps the container on private property entirely and removes the question altogether.

    Driveway-Friendly Delivery on Tight Lots

Older Salisbury neighborhoods were laid out long before anyone designed for a roll-off truck. Driveways in Newtown and Camden are often narrow, sloped, or shaded by mature trees with low limbs. We plan for it.

    • We place protective boards under the container rails so the wheels and rails never bear directly on your asphalt or concrete
    • Our drivers walk the driveway before backing in and will tell you honestly if a spot will not work
    • A 10-yard needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and about 23 feet of overhead clearance to roll off cleanly
    • We can angle a container to keep a second parking space usable on a shared or narrow drive
    • If overhead limbs or utility lines are a concern, tell us when you book and we will plan the approach accordingly

Clear the placement area of vehicles, trash cans, and basketball hoops before the delivery window, and mark the spot you want with a cone or a piece of tape if you will not be home.

Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery from Easton

We run out of Easton and travel the Route 50 and Route 13 corridor daily, which puts Salisbury squarely on our regular route. Call before noon and same-day delivery is often available; otherwise next-day is the standard. That corridor also covers Fruitland, Delmar, Hebron, Mardela Springs, Pittsville, and Willards, so if you are anywhere in Wicomico County we can most likely reach you on the same schedule.

Summer and early fall are our busiest stretch on the lower shore — roofing season overlaps with the university rental turnover — so reserving two or three days ahead gives you the best choice of delivery windows.

    Frequently Asked Questions

No. A roll-off container placed entirely on your own private driveway or private lot does not require a permit. A permit generally comes into play only when the container has to sit in the public right-of-way, such as a city street or alley — in that case, check with the City of Salisbury before your delivery date, or with Wicomico County if the property is outside city limits.

A 20-yard container is the right size for most Salisbury kitchen remodels, especially in older Camden and Newtown homes where cabinetry, countertops, plaster, and multiple layers of flooring come out together. It is $597 with 3 tons of disposal included.

Our 10-yard is $399 with 1 ton included, and both the 20-yard and 30-yard are $597 with 3 tons included. Every price covers delivery, pickup, and a 14-day rental period. Additional tonnage is $99 per ton and extra days are $7 per day.

Often, yes. We run the Route 50 and Route 13 corridor from our Easton base every day. Call before noon and same-day delivery is frequently available in Salisbury, Fruitland, Delmar, and the surrounding Wicomico County towns; otherwise next-day delivery is standard.
